The midwife, mother of many

The other day I watched this video with my daughters:

I loved it!

I also always tell my daughters about my work.

Of course, this video is about a midwife who works in a hospital. Instead, I'm going to attend births at home... I can wake up in the middle of the night or leave what I'm doing at any time to go and accompany the new family on their journey...

My daughters know this. Sometimes they are very happy and understand, other times they get angry because they want me there with them, even though they are still little, and I explain to them that I am very lucky, that I am not going to a job I don't like bored, and that I am going to do something that I am passionate about and that I love!

I was very clear about it, I knew what I wanted to do “when I grew up” since I was little, it is a passion, I love being by the mother’s side during labor, being able to accompany her, sometimes quietly, sometimes with a gentle touch, a caress, a back massage… sometimes listening to her, listening to her fears and giving her the strength that she can do it and that I trust in her and her baby…

I love being there during the birth, the moment the baby comes out. I consider it a divine gift to be able to be there during this unique moment. It's a moment of transformation, a moment of such intense love. Everything is so intense!

I love watching the change in a baby's expression as they learn to breathe, the change in their skin color, the little sounds they make, their search for the breast...

I love the placenta! It's incredible, it's so wise! When the baby can breathe on its own without help, the cord stops pulsating and the placenta detaches itself, knowing it can come out!

I remember once a child who took a while to learn to breathe, he was breathing but he needed a little help from his sister – his little house (the placenta), who provided him with oxygen, and when he was ready then the cord stopped beating and the placenta came out!

I watch her and watch her, she looks like a tree, the tree of life <3.

I like to explain to the parents what it's like and how the baby was there. I like to make the printout with a piece of paper; it's a nice keepsake.
