When I was around 6 or 7 years old, after watching a documentary on home birth on television in England, I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. Later, at 16, I attended my sister's birth, also at home. During the delivery, I was the one who cut the umbilical cord, thus taking my first step into the fascinating world of the science and art of midwifery.

Following the family tradition started by my mother, I had my two daughters at home, accompanied by a midwife and my husband. For them, we decided to opt for what's known as a "Lotus Birth." This method involves not cutting the umbilical cord and allowing the placenta to remain attached to the baby until it detaches naturally, which usually occurs, on average, three or four days after birth.

This practice, also called “integral birth,” respects the entire process: the baby is born, then the placenta is “born,” and both remain connected until the process ends spontaneously.

For five years, I worked as a midwife with Doctors Without Borders on various projects, which allowed me to deeply enrich my personal and professional experience.

Currently, I accompany women and their families during childbirth, whether at home or in the hospital, combining my passion with each mother's desire.

• To my partner, who was the first to encourage me to choose home birth.
• To my friend and midwife, for always being by my side.
