In this post I would like to talk about the Nanoparticles that may be present in the cosmetic products we apply.

I found this information on the blog of Young Living, where I was very interested in an article by Dr. Mike Buch, who has more than 25 years of experience in the health and wellness sector, where he shares some important data on the nanoparticles!

Many times when we buy body products we try to buy the most natural possible and notchemical-laden cosmetics; but even some naturally derived options are questionable, andIn particular, ingredients containing nanoparticles.

In which products can we find Nanoparticles?

One of the most common uses of nanoparticles in sunscreen products is the use of nano-sized zinc oxide. Zinc oxide is a benign, natural, non-reactive mineral that blocks sunlight and therefore acts as a sunscreen. Nanoparticles, due to their small size, spread more evenly and give the sensation of improved skin protection; however,

¿What are NANOPARTICLES?

Nanoparticles are defined as microscopic particles with sizes ranging from 1 to 100 nanometers. They are so small, in fact, that about 100,000 nanoparticles would fit across the width of a human hair! Because of the extremely small size of these particles, their properties can be very different from the properties of larger particles of the same material. For example, nanoparticles are generally more reactive than standard-sized particles.

Because their size entails risks? Why do I have to worry?

Apart from being highly reactive and unpredictable in living organisms, they are so small that they can pass through cell membranes into the blood. The fact that nanoparticles can enter the blood and reach the interior of cells is worrying, especially since very few studies have been carried out to date on the interactions between nanoparticles and cells.

Conclusions

As nanoparticle-based formulations continue to enter health and beauty products, it is important to exercise caution until further studies are conducted to test the safety of these unique and atypical materials, according to Dr. Mike Buch.

I wanted to share this information because until now I had not heard about the world of Nanoparticles!
Fortunately, there are still plenty of mineral-based products that don't include them!!
